Now playing 7,308-yards from the back tees, at sea level, in usually windy conditions and with elevated, angled greens well protected by many of the layout's 125 bunkers - the course gives players nothing. The course was later re-modeled by Joe Lee, a Wilson protégé, in 1990, by Ron Forse in 1997, and again by Bobby Weed and Scot Sherman in 2005. Opened for play in January 1962, Pine Tree was built over a 168-acre stretch of sand and slash pine. The par 71 layouts he designed has since become something of a darling of the golf architecture world. Wilson was commissioned by the club founding members, which included Walker Cupers, to fashion a testing golf course on what was, a rather uninspiring and largely flat parcel of dairy farmland. Pine Tree is home to many well-known currents and former professional golfers who have been drawn by the club's Dick Wilson-designed layout, which has a reputation of being a particularly stern test, and it's easy to see why. The Pine Tree Golf Club in Boynton Beach, Florida, is an exclusive private club featuring a highly regarded 18-hole golf course, excellent golfing facilities, and first-class clubhouse amenities.
